Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has disclosed plans to engage officers of the Man O-War Nigeria para-military organization to assist in providing security and surveillance for primary and secondary schools in the state.
He made this disclosure when he received national executives of the Man O-War Nigeria on a courtesy visit to his office.
Governor Makinde explained that the recent trend of kidnapping of students amongst other security challenges has become worrisome.
The governor said the paramilitary organization had evolved over the years to provide link between citizenship engagement and leadership, adding that with the increasing concern over insecurity, the group had to do more in complementing other security agencies
Earlier, the Deputy National Commandant of Man O-War, Gbenga Adedamola called for the reawaken of the culture of joining voluntary organizations like the Man O-War among Nigerian youths to build the spirit of patriotism
While making request for assistance from the governor to make the organization perform better, Mr Adedamola lauded the commitment of Governor Makinde on youth development in the country.
