Community leaders in Oyo town have commended the steps being taken by the Oyo State Government to eradicate open defecation and reduce environmental pollution in the state.
They noted that the initiative to distribute mobile toilets to strategic locations was a timely step towards improving personal hygiene of residents.
While lamenting the low level of environmental sanitation at some food processing depots and emergence of refuse dumps in the area, a Community leader, Alhaji Wahab Ogundele called on government to employ more Sanitation Officers and ensure that the mobile toilets reached all parts of the state.
Alhaji Ogundele also emphasized the need for proper maintenance of the mobile toilets to prevent them from becoming a public nuisance like the refuse bins.
