Blazing Kings Games Club have emerged champions of the season one of The Chess League, Ibadan.
Blazing Kings Games Club won eighteen games, drew four to top the Cross-table.
Bamboo Towers Chess Club are the first runners up while RAIA Rooks Chess Club clinched the third position.
At the closing ceremony of the season one chess league held at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium, Ibadan, thirty Chess Players were equally decorated with medals for their outstanding performances at the Tournament.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, The Captain of Blazing Kings Games Club, who are the new champions, Kenny Olajide, commended players of the club for the team spirit exhibited throughout the league season.
Also, Chairman, Chess League, Ibadan, Mr. Iredele Ogunbayo said more Chess Clubs from outside the state have shown interest of participation in the season two expected to begin in the last quarter of the year.
He said the Chess League season was to create awareness and discover talents.
Mr. Ogunbayo added that children needed to be encouraged to play Chess so as to build them mentally.
