Management of Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta, has called on community and religious leaders to prevail on those accessing the facility to stop assaulting health workers while on duty.

Acting Director of the hospital, Dr. Fidelix Ojeblenu made this known in Abeokuta while addressing newsmen on the increasing assault cases on staff of the centre.

The acting Director urged the leaders to help in stopping the ugly incidents of assault and the severity of such assaults on personnel of the hospital to enable them perform their duties without fear of molestation.

He stated that a suspect that recently assaulted a medical personnel had been arrested and is currently being investigated for possible prosecution.

The acting director hinted that patients and families should make use of avenue to lodge their complaints rather those assaulting than resulting to self help.

Dr. Ojeblenu while empathizing with those assaulted also assured them of adequate protection while on duty.

He stressed that medical practitioners in the facility are always striving to render the best services to patients as against the allegations of nonchalance by some relatives.
