JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede says recent uproar over mass poor performance of candidates in the 2021 UTME is the consequence of a failed scam perpetrated by a cartel and patronized by some candidates and their parents.

Professor Oloyede gave the information while speaking at the Foundation laying ceremony of the JAMB International Talent Resort, ITRG, in Gbongan, Osun State.

Professor Oloyede explained that before the commencement of the 2021 UMTE, a cartel published a fake digital past UMTE question papers, circulating it claiming to be genuinely from JAMB and many parents and their children who fell for the scam later realized when it failed during the examination.

The registrar who declared that the season of examination malpractice in JAMB conducted examinations was over, noted that the board had strengthened its process such that opportunity to commit examination malpractice was blocked.

The JAMB boss appealed to state governments to pay sufficient attention to combating the highly organized gang of examination fraudsters who operate under the guise of tutorial classes in almost every city largely in uncompleted or dilapidated buildings with unqualified tutors.

On the International Talent Resort, Professor Oloyede stated that the centre when completed would serve as a place where scholars, particularly those engaged by the board for various academic related and test-administration service would operate, adding that it will also incorporate CBT Centres for the use of scholars and students from within and outside Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, Osun State helmsman, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Prince Wole Oyebamiji remarked that the center was another feather added to the many garlands that have rightfully characterized the Professor Oloyede leadership in JAMB.

Governor Oyetola assured JAMB of an enabling atmosphere defined by unrivaled tranquility that would facilitate serious intellectual pursuits and relaxation.


In a remark, the Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi expressed gratitude to JAMB authorities and assured the body of the support of his subjects.

Also speaking, former Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Dr. Wale Babalakin lauded JAMB for bringing the Talent Center to the community while pleading for more commitment to improve funding of education.

The Resort is a four phased project, but the first phase which comprises of an office and 550 seater CBT centre will gulp 280 million naira.
