President Muhammadu Buhari is in Dutsinma, Katsina State, to commission the Zobe Regional Water Supply Scheme.

The now completed 179 million cubic metre-capacity dam was started 25 years ago, but abandoned by successive governments.

The project, which is a joint venture between the Katsina State and the Federal Government, is designed to provide adequate water for domestic and irrigation purposes in 13 local government areas of the state.

Correspondent Abdullah Bello reports that the dam has been equipped with heavy duty transformers, staff quarters, administrative offices, and a laboratory for routine analyses.

It has a lifespan of fifty years.
