Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says despite criticism in some quarters, his effort of infrastructural development in the sport sector would engender significant investment in the youth population of the state.

He stated this shortly after an inspection tour of the Lekan Salami Sport Complex, Adamasingba Ibadan.

The governor disclosed that the sport complex would be commissioned in September.

Governor Makinde while expressing satisfaction with the level of work done on the project, said the project would be a legacy project, as it would engage youths productively and boost the internally generated revenue, IGR, of the state.

The governor noted that the project would bring back lost glories of Oyo state in sporting activities and facilitate victories for the state football club in the national league with pitches and other facilities within the sport complex as well as the soccer stadium.

Governor Makinde emphasized that his motivation to embark on most ongoing projects particularly road projects despite paucity of fund, was to raise the bar of governance and ensure citizens of the state enjoy dividends of democracy.

The governor had earlier paid an inspection tour to Bashorun-Akobo flyover bridge project and Ajia Amuloko road project to ascertain the progress of work.
