Succour has come the way of victims of Igangan crises as a Non Governmental organization, Stefanos Foundation from Jos, Plateau State distributed relief materials to about 100 affected residents in the community.

The event which was held at Igangan town hall comprised beneficiaries who were farmers, traders and transporters who lost their means of livelihood to crises.

Victims of the crises had since the occurrence of the conflict been finding it had to cope with social and economic demands of life.

Radio Nigeria observed during the exercise, the victims who had been incapacitated due to severe injuries sustained had their relief materials taken to them while other survivors who were still receiving treatment managed to attend the town hall venue to receive their package.

The relief materials which include rice, beans, gari, vegetable oil, soap, and beverages were distributed based on the list of the victims.

Narrating their experiences to Radio Nigeria, some of the affected residents including, Mr Adefemi Adetunji who lost his right arm during the conflict and Mr Kehinde Olukunle commended Stefanos foundation for the kind gesture.

The Agba Akin of Igangan land, Chief Fakorede Samuel and the Vice Chairman Igangan Local Council Development Area, Mr Azeez Adenrele said the crises would not have occurred but for some suspected herders who fuelled the crises as a result of unabated destruction of farmlands, rapping of women and kidnapping of Igangan residents.

They however said peace is gradually returning to the community while any act of evil practice would not be condoned from foreigners.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Programme Coordinator, Stefanos Foundation, Mr Mark Lipdo said the relief items given to the victims was born out of the concerns for the harrowing experience of victim of violence and the need to cushion the effect of the crises in the area.

Mr Lipdo implored the beneficiaries to continue to embrace peace

The Stefanos Foundation Programe Coordinator pledged the resolve of the organization to continue to work with the community leaders towards the provision of other benefits

In attendance at the programme were traditional and religious leaders in and outside Igangan community.
