Police Command, Ogun state, has cautioned bloggers and online information merchants to desist from circulating unverified information capable of causing crisis in the state.

The Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi gave the caution while reacting to some online report claiming that a prominent muslim cleric in Ijebuland, Alhaji Mushafau Bakre was killed by gun men.

The police spokesman while speaking with Radio Nigeria on phone said publishing of unverified information was capable of causing chaos in the society.

He explained that the Imam was found dead by policemen while on patrol with no sign of attack.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the Late Imam with health history of High Blood pressure has no bruise or mark and was on the drivers seat position when the vehicle was discovered.

He stated that no hint has been discovered pointing to assassination.

The police image maker then called on media houses be thorough in the discharge of their duties in order not to mislead the people.
