As the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic sweeps across the country, Osun State is also counting its losses recording seven deaths out of the 73 cases reported in the last two weeks.

The state government made this known in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode.

Mrs. Egbemode said it has become imperative for citizens to consciously take personal responsibility for their own safety because the third wave of the dreaded disease had recorded 74 cases with 7 mortality in just two weeks.

She said the effects of the virus kept getting worse by the day because compliance had been taken for granted as many people refused to adhere to the non-pharmaceutical protocols.

The information commissioner warned that partying and appearances at densely populated locations had become dangerous all over as it is not safe to we continue to pretend like it does not exist.

Mrs. Egbemode noted that the current statistics signal a precarious situation with 74 positive cases in the last two weeks, from which ten percent mortality was recorded, adding that continued disregard for safety guidelines and protocols by citizens may result in more frightening statistics with time.Adenitan Akinola
