Eleven years after the demise of an Ibadan born fuji icon, Alhaji sikiru Ayinde barrister, Oyo state house of assembly has called on the executive arm to begin process of immortalising him.
Other resolutions at the plenary presided over by the speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin included the renaming of the popular cultural centre, mokola and naming a street in Oopoyeosa after the music icon, as well as granting posthumous state award on late Alhaji Ayinde.
The resolutions followed a motion brought to the house by the deputy chief whip and lawmaker representing Ibadan Southwest state constituency 1, Mr Adebisi Yusuf.
While presenting the motion, Mr Yusuf said the move was necessary in recognition of the essential roles Dr Ayinde played in the evolution of music in Ibadan and Nigeria and to encourage many talents in different sectors of the economy.
The Lawmakers in their contributions showered encomium on the music legend, making reference to the impact of his music on correcting social ills.
