Two members of a kidnap syndicate in Ogun State have been gunned down in Itori area of Ewekoro local government.

According to the state police command in a statement issued by spokesman, Mr. Abímbólá Oyeyemi the operatives in another encounter also killed another member of kidnap syndicate at Ilala forest in Imala area of Abeokuta North local government area and arrested a member of the syndicate.

The spokesman said the gun battle between the police and the kidnappers was as a result of information received by the police at Imala divisional headquarters that six armed kidnappers were sighted in the forest.

 Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the hoodlums on sighting the police opened fire on them while the police responded leading to tje death of one and the arrest of one Usman Maidama while others escaped into the forest with gun wounds. 

He said one single barrel gun, one face mask and two pairs of sandal were recovered from the kidnappers.

Mr Oyeyemi said the the command’s war against banditry has been yeilding results leading to the recovery of four Ak 47 riffles in the the last three weeks..

The Police command spokesman said the commissioner of police in Ogun state, Mr. Edward Ajogun, expressed satisfaction with the consistent fight against criminals by the command and has ordered the transfer of the case to anti kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for investigation.
