Journalists have been charged to always verify information at their disposal before publishing to put an end to fake news and injuring the trust of the audience.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile gave the advice in Abeokuta while closing a two day workshop for Health Reporters organised by the International Press Center, IPC with Support from United State Consulate General Lagos.

Alhaji Odusile stressed the need for Journalists to always be factual in their reportage as the society relies so much on them for truth and Accurate information of events around them. 

He added that as members of the fourth estate of the realm, Reporters  must avoid reports that would set the nation on fire, create fear and panic in the mind of the listeners and readers.

The Information Commissioner gave an assurance that the State Government would continue to assist journalists to do their job with prompt and adequate release of Information about government activities and policies.
