A police sergeant, Mr. Innocent Heede has testified against nine suspects detained on charges of conspiracy, armed robbery, murder and arson before Justice Moruf Abbas of Oyo State High Court 2.

The accused were alleged to have committed the offences during the Endsars protest.

Mr. Heede said viral video was given to a police team by Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Shola Aremu, the commandant of the squad, who asked them to investigate it.

He explained that the team went to the area and showed the video to people who identified the culprits before a joint task force effected their arrest.

Mr. Heede said the first defendant, Adesina Ademuyiwa acknowledged that indeed he was in the video and that he knew his other accomplice.

He added that Ademuyiwa eventually took the team to the house of Sodiq Ariyo and his younger brother, Afeez Ariyo, who made confessional statement, mentioning names of the other accused.

State prosecutor, Sandra Tella then asked Sergeant Heede to state where the confessions were taken.

Sergeant Heede said it was in confession room the suspects were debriefed.

He added that officers at the Ojoo Police Station also identified the accused.

After Sergeant Heede concluded his evidence, Justice Moruf Abbas adjourned to Monday 13th September, 2021.
