Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has disabused the minds of the public against ill feelings associated with the Ember Months.
Unit Commander, FRSC, Ogbomoso Unit, Assistant Corps Commander Isaac Adebayo stated this while featuring on Ojukoju, a weekly current affairs program on Ogo-Ilu FM.
Assistant Corps Commander Afolabi who explained that carnages on roads were not spiritually propelled during Ember months, said recklessness on parts of road users was the major cause.
“Activities heighten during Ember months because people believe the year is winding up and they want to meet a target. So, everyone tends to be rushing things up, the roads get very busy and many road users tend to become reckless”.
“There is spiritual attachment to the period, our actions are responsible for everything we see”, He said.
The Unit Commander also noted that excessive speeding, disregard to traffic laws, and poor condition of vehicles were also key agents of road disaster.
He maintained that night traveling should be avoided and cautioned against smartphone distractions while driving.
The Ogbomoso Unit Commander stressed that the corps was doing its all to sensitize the public on road safety measures to protect lives and property.
