Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated the state road safety advisory council saddled with the responsibility of minimizing accidents on the roads in the state.

Inaugurating the 12-man council headed by the State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Noimot Salako Oyedele in Okemosan, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun explained that inauguration of the council became imperative towards driving the implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy, NARSS, in the state.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative, Governor Abiodun pointed out that the council was expected to address the challenges of road crashes in the state and the country in general.

Governor Abiodun who gave the assurance that his administration would continue to partner all relevant stakeholders towards achieving zero crash on the road, said the state government would provide necessary logistics for the state-owned traffic compliance and enforcement agency TRACE to make its operation more effective.

Governor Abiodun also advised motorists to always ensure that their vehicles were in good condition before embarking on any journey, urging them to always obey traffic rules and regulations.

Responding, the Chairman of the Council and  the Deputy Governor Mrs Noimot  Salako Oyedele said that the  council would work hard and the members would justify the confidence repose in them by reducing road accident in  accordance with the objective of setting up the council
