Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim wants corps members to use the Social Media to promote the scheme and Nigeria, rather than peddling rumours, spreading hate speech and promoting views that are inimical to the unity and development of Nigeria.

The admonition is contained in his address to the swearing-in ceremony of participants in the Batch C, stream 1 Orientation exercise at the permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun state.

In the address presented by the Osun state Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Shokpeka Winifred, the Director General reminded the corps members that as ambassadors of the scheme and that of Nigeria, they had an obligation to project the country, promote her unity in diversity and her social economic growth.

Brigadier General Ibrahim explained that in the last few years, the scheme had undergone paradigm shift putting into cognizance the economic reality of the country and security of the global community, hence participants were being equipped with self defense skills and entrepreneurial programme.

In her opening remark, the Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Shokpeka Winifred said more than before, the scheme has designed mechanism to further encourage young people to love themselves and used the communication gadgets such as mobile telephones to spread the message of love and oneness, saying that remains the most important at this period in Nigeria.

Mrs Winifred urged the participants to commit themselves to the tenets of national integration and unity, shun all religious intolerance or ethic bigotry and learn to respect one another differences.

She said the regimented orientation course was to instill discipline in the corps, expose them to the ideal of the scheme as well to equip them to effect the needed changes in the people of their host communities.

The Chief Judge of Osun state, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo administered oath allegiance on the corps

Of the one thousand six hundred and fifty corps members posted to Osun state, one thousand five hundred and thirty four, including seven hundred and seventy six males and seven hundred and seventy eight females were sworn-in to participate in the 2021 Batch C stream 1 Orientation Course in Osun State.
