The Committee of Monotechnic and Polytechnic Librarians in Nigeria, COMPLIN, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the huge investment in Polytechnic education especially in the area of Information Communication Technology, ICT.

The chairman of the committee, Dr. Chris Enyia gave the commendation during a meeting of the Committee of Monotechnic and Polytechnic librarians in Nigeria held at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti.

According to him, though much still needed to be done, the Buhari-Administration has shown rare commitment to ICT development in tertiary institutions.

Dr. Enyia charged governments both at the state and federal levels to devote more money to e-libraries of tertiary institutions across the country so as to enhance research work and inculcate reading culture in students.

Also, the second vice-chairman of the committee of Librarians who doubles as the librarian of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Pastor Emmanuel Ayeni worried over the poor reading culture among students which he said would be addressed if libraries were well equipped.

In his lecture on the topic “Emerging Trends in Data Gathering Management and Application in Decision Making”, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Oladebeye urged librarians to be conversant with Information Communication Technology tools to enhance better library operations.

Dr. Oladebeye said with the assistance of the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti had gone digital.
