Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development is set to commence an airborne geophysical survey in Ogun state and eighteen other states across the country.


The minister of Mines and Steel Development, Alhaji Olamilekan Adegbite made this known in Abeokuta while speaking with news men on the exercise tagged “Airborne Survey in Selected Areas of Nineteen States of the Federation”.


Alhaji Adegbite represented by the Director Special Duties of the Ministry, Mr. Yisau Adepoju advised people of Ogun state not to panic whenever they see aeroplanes flying at low altitude.


The minister also urged the residents not to be apprehensive as a result of loud noise of aircrafts or the pattern of their movement.


Alhaji Adegbite said the aircraft while carrying out the survey on selected local government area would be seen in other areas that may not be in the actual survey area and called on residents of the state not to panic on sighting the aircrafts for the exercise.


The minister stressed the need to gather geophysical information that might lead to mineral discoveries and hinted that passive technique would be used in the process which would not involve sending out signals into the ground and very safe.


The airborne geophysical survey is expected to commence this December would last for some weeks in nineteen states of the federation covering one hundred and twelve local government areas.
