Osun state government has dismissed a report in the media which rates the state low in the cleanliness performance index of states across the country.

The state commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode who reacted to the report in a statement urged the public to disregard the report as it did not reflect the true situation in Osun state.

Mrs. Egbemode claimed the report was suspicious stressing that residents of the state know the truth about government’s effort in keeping the state clean and healthy.

She expressed surprise how Osun state  in which one of its local governments, Ifedayo, was rated open-defecation free, and a state with a functional waste management system, for safe waste disposal, could be rated among dirtiest states in the country.

While noting government’s heavy investment in de-slitting and opening up of water channels to keep residents safe, Mrs. Egbemode said government would not relent in doing those things that would improve quality of lifes irrespective not distractions from some quarters.
