Efforts are still ongoing to clear the site of a building collapse at Okpanam, in the outskirts of Asaba, the Delta state capital.

Present at the site of the incident were men of the State Emergency Management Agency, fire service, the police and community support groups.

Oghenero Eghweree who is covering the events for Radio Nigeria, reports that Delta State Police Command had just released a statement on the disaster, where it posits that the incident has so far led to the demise of a woman and two female children.

The police report signed by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, also notes that eighteen persons have been rescued and eleven are still receiving treatment, while four of the victims have been discharged.

The one-story building prior to the disaster houses a religious centre and private offices.
