It was an occasion of who is who at the Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Light, Agodi as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Olalekan Balogun, led Ibadan high chiefs on a coronation thanksgiving.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, who was at the thanksgiving service reports that the Prelate Emeritus, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Sunday Makinde called on government to give constitutional backing to monarch in the country to play their role in tackling insecurity.

Using King Solomon in 1King 3:5 to drive his message,  Dr Sunday Makinde lamented the level of insecurity in the country, saying traditional rulers in the country must be given constitutional backing to play their role without any interference.

Prelate Emeritus, Makinde, who said state police was inevitable in the current war against banditry and criminality, called for regular meetings of the mogajiis and baales in Ibadanland on security updates within their vicinity.

While appreciating the Oyo state governor for restoring the status quo in the kingship pattern in Ibadan, the cleric stressed the need for the monarch to seek the divine wisdom and knowledge to steer the affairs of Ibadanland, which he said had metamorphosed into a modern city with dynamics of complexities.

In a remark, the President General Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, CCII, Prince Yemi Adeaga emphasized the need for indigenes of Ibadan land to always revere their traditional rulers.

Addressing the congregation in Yoruba, the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Moshood Olalekan Balogun appreciated God and the church for the honour bestowed him.

He prayed for the wisdom to rule the ancient city and called on all and sundry to embrace peace.

Among the dignitaries present at the coronation thanksgiving service were, the Asipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Eddy Oyewole,  Balogun Of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin, Asipa Balogun Olubadan Of Ibadan Land, High Chief Kolawole Adegbola, Ekerin Balogun Olubadan Of Ibadanland, High Chief John Isioye Dada and representative of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oyo State Chapter.
