The National Campaign on Out-of-School-Children has been launched in Ogun State with a call on State Governors to substantiate the efforts to strengthen basic education in all the states.

Minister of State for Education, Mr Goodluck Opiah, who made the plea while flagging off the campaign in Abeokuta, said addressing the issues responsible for keeping children out of school should be the concern of everyone.

The Minister explained that Nigeria’s educational system was structured to prepare children for responsible citizenship and national development, noting that gainful engagement of the teeming children and youths would promote peace and check social vices in the country.

Mr Opiah said the ministry was determined to step up the enrolment of all school-aged children and retain them in formal or non-formal schools close to their homes.
