The Osun State Public/Political Office Holders Revised Remuneration Package Amendment No 2, Bill 2024 has scaled through its third reading.

During plenary at the State House of Assembly in Osogbo, Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Prince Adekunle Oladimeji moved the motion for the final passage of the bill and was seconded by the Chief Whip of the House, Mr. Olawale Akerele.

The bill which was last amended in 2008, was presented as a private member bill to the House on 30th April, 2024, by the Majority Leader, Mr Kofoworola Adewunmi, who is representing Ede North State Constituency,

The Speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun said a clean copy of the bill would be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.

“Order of the day, the Osun State Public/ Political Office Holders Revised Renumeration Package amendment No 2 Bill 2024 , third reading. Honorable members the bill is meant to motivate and reduce corruption amongst Public and Political Office Holders.” The Speaker said

The Osun State Public Political Office Holders Revised Remuneration Package Amendment No 2, Bill 2024, is aimed to improve the standard of living of public and few political officeholders in line with five points agenda of Governor Adeleke.

However, the Public Officers, Part Time board Members and board chairmen would benefit more from the Remuneration, while legislators are exempted from the package.

Meanwhile, the Speaker had announced at the floor of the House that a Mini Public Hearing will be held for Osun Estate Agency Regulatory Authority Bill on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024.
