Ogun State House of Assembly has called on all concerned Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government to put in place measures towards securing all public assets and utilities.
The Speaker, mr Oludaisi Elemide made the call while responding to the submission of a member representing Abeokuta North State Constituency, mr Babatunde Tella, who raised the issue of the recent cases of vandalization and theft of public assets, especially road fixtures and iron barricades on overhead bridges in some parts of the state during a plenary at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Mr Elemide admonished the people to embrace attitudinal change and desist from such unpatriotic act of vandalisation of public utilities, which he noted were inimical to the development and progress of the State.
Earlier, mr Tella had reported to the Assembly, the recent cases of vandalization of the iron barricades on the road from Kuto-NNPC overhead Bridge in Abeokuta, saying such act if not checked could lead to further vandalization of more Government assets.
In the same vein, the Minority Leader, Mr Lukmon Adeleye called for the intervention of the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure regarding the provision of median and barricades on the Ijebu-Ode/Ikoto/Oke Owa Road, which had led to the loss of lives in recent time.
Responding, the Speaker said the House of Assembly would extend an invitation to the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to conduct an on-the-spot assessment on the road.
