As Muslims in Nigeria join their counterparts around the World to celebrate this year’s Eid EL Kabir, former Governor of Oyo State and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has urged Nigerians to emulate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim for the unity and progress of the country.

Senator Ladoja made this known in a Statement made available in Ibadan, calling on all religions to work together for peace, development and oneness of Nigeria.

The former governor appealed to people to use the period of the celebration to reflect on the purpose and lessons of the Eid-El-kabir which include sacrifice, love, charity and piety among others for peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationship with one another.

Senator Ladoja said Muslim faithful are to draw lessons from the prophet’s examples by eschewing tendencies that could affect the unity and stability of the nation, maintaining that, the celebration became a symbolic event in the history of mankind, given the numerous rewards that followed the patience and perseverance of Prophet Ibrahim, who held on tenaciously to his faith in God despite being afflicted.

“Eid-el-Kabir has become a symbolic event in human history, following the events that led to the sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim, who held tenaciously to his faith in God despite his unpleasant circumstances at the time.”

“This symbolic Islamic festival is a reminder to us that there will always be great rewards when we have abiding faith and patience in trying periods; persistence in prayers, and tenacity in our belief.”

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland wished every Nigerian a peaceful and rewarding Celebration.
