Former governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Senator Rashidi Ladoja says traditionally Oluwo of Ibadan crowns Olubadan-designate after nomination by the Kingmakers.

Thereafter, the state governor presents Staff of Office and Instrument of Office to the Olubadan.

Senator Ladoja made this clarification while fielding questions from Newsmen at his Bodija Residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, in response to comments on the health status of the Olubadan-Designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin by Governor Seyi Makinde at the funeral of late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun.

The Otun Olubadan maintained that Governor Seyi Makinde was wrong to have said Oba Owolabi Olakulehin would be enthroned when he is fit enough for the throne, adding that, Oba Olakulehin went to inspect the new Olubadan Palace the previous week where he walked around and spoke to the People at Palace.

He described Oba Olakulehin as an aged man whom people should not expect to be acting like a youth considering that the fact that Olubadan-Designate joined the Olubadan race in 1983, and he is almost 90 years of old.

Senator Ladoja dismissed insinuations that Governor Makinde deliberately delayed the coronation of a new Olubadan to target him.

He stressed that there was a very cordial relationship with Governor Makinde, pointing out that the latter sent him a cow and bags of rice for Eid-el-Kabir.
