Mr. Saleh Abubakar has assumed office as the new Director General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, NAGGW.

Following his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu, Mr Saleh Abubakar formally took over as DG/CEO from the immediate past helmsman of the agency, Dr. Yusuf Bukar.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, in Abuja, Mr Abubakar, said he will build on the foundation and consolidate on the achievements recorded by his predecessor, in combating desertification and promoting sustainable development of the Nigerian drylands.

He pledged commitment to duty and solicited the maximum support of the management and staff of the agency to achieve its mandate to the letter.

Mr Abubakar appreciated the outgoing DG’s conscientious efforts and professionalism in achieving the Great Green Wall program of halting desertification and restoring degraded lands.

Earlier in his remark, the outgone DG, Dr. Yusuf Bukar, said the agency under his leadership, achieved tremendous successes in terms of addressing land degradation, especially in the 11 frontline states troubled by desertification in Nigeria.

Dr Bukar then thanked the management team for the support and cooperation he enjoyed during his leadership period and implored them to accord the same to the new DG.
