Ogun State Waste Management Authority, OGWAMA says it will collaborate with all religious camps in the state to curtail the spread of Cholera and other water-borne diseases.
Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun and head of OGWAMA, Mr Abayomi Hunye stated this when he led the Agency’s management team to RCCG Camp along the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway for the inspection of waste management facilities at the camp.
Mr. Hunye who emphasized the importance of proper waste management maintained that camps and other crowded areas across the state were at the risk of serious outbreaks, including waterborne diseases like cholera, considering the numbers of residents and visitors to the camps.
He promised that experts from the Agency would visit those locations periodically for sensitization and inspection of dumpsites and other facilities, with special attention to organizations dealing with medical wastes, pointing out that the measures was aimed at instituting global best standards in their operations.
The Special Adviser called on the relevant authorities at the campgrounds across the state to collaborate with OGWAMA officials during upcoming inspections of their waste management facilities, towards guaranteeing a healthy environment for residents and visitors.
