Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has commenced tour of rice plantations to assess the impact of government inputs intervention in Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas of the state.

Governor Abdulrazaq who was represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Toyosi Thomas said the visit would be followed by another ‘feedback mission’ to other parts of the state to inspect maize and soya beans farmlands, among others.

He said the recent distribution of seedlings, fertilizers, and other farm inputs to support 10,000 farmers across the sixteen local governments would ensure bumper harvest and promote food security.

The governor explained that the tour was meant to ensure that the farm inputs given to farmers were used judiciously.

Governor Abdulrazaq expressed satisfaction with the level of work on the farms and commended the farmers for their commitment to the governmentfood security drive.

On his part, a farmer, Mr Bala Sa’adu from Lade Community, said farmers under Dukulade Irrigation Scheme have benefitted immensely from the present administration.

Mr Sa’adu said the regular provision of farm inputs and de-silting of blocked canals has assisted them greatly.
