Oyo State Acting governor, Chief Adebayo Lawal has inaugurated a 5-man governing board of the State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority headed by Justice Aderonke Aderemi (Retired).

Inaugurating the Board at the Executive Chamber, Governor’s office, Ibadan, the acting governor said the inauguration is an indication of the commitment of Makinde-led government towards upholding the rule of law that reflects the dedication to the principles of justice, transparency and accountability.

According to him, the Agency among others is to coordinate and complement the implementation of the provisions of Oyo State Laws and Regulations relating to health and environmental standards, asset management/maintenance and road traffic safety and maintenance while Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with such functions and laws are expected to act within the boundaries of the law and respect the rights of individuals.

Chief Lawal noted that effective law enforcement is not just about deterrence and punishment but about prevention, education and community partnership. 

In an interview, the chairperson of the governing board of Rule Of Law Enforcement Authority, Justice Aderonke Aderemi,retired, called on residents of the state to cooperate with the agency in its mandate of enforcing laws in the state for a better society. 

Other members of the Board Abdulmojeed Mogbojubola, Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, Olasunkanmi Olaleye and Major Adesagba Adekoya, rtd were charged for a noble discharge for the development of the state

It would be recalled that the Rule of Law Enforcement Authority Bill was signed into law on Friday 12th April, 2024.
