Civil servants should do their best to complement the government’s efforts towards promoting good governance for the benefit of the people.
The Chief Imam, State Secretariat Mosque, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Alhaji Abdulfatai Inakoju, gave the admonition at a jumat service to mark 2024 Public Service Day in Ogun State.
Alhaji Inakoju maintained that the contributions of the state’s public service remained crucial for the government to succeed, urging the workforce to be committed to excellence.
The religious leader also reminded those at the helm of affairs to always regard the public service as the engine room of governance, calling on the relevant authorities to prioritize the welfare of public servants, to further enhance their efficiency and productivity.
In a remark, the State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate this year’s Public Service Day as an avenue to highlight the achievements of public servants and appreciate their immeasurable efforts.
Mr Onasanya expressed optimism that the state Civil servants would continue to be the best among their peers in terms of pedigree, welfare, and best practices,
The Head of Service who acknowledged workers’ contributions to the overall development of the State also lauded the government for giving due recognition to the welfare of civil servants, reiterating that Governor Dapo Abiodun had approved the payment of 50 per cent of the state Health Insurance Scheme funding for civil servants.
