The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Ayodele Sonubi has paraded one Muhammad Adekunle for allegedly being involved in the sale of human head and other body parts for ritual purposes alongside other suspected criminals.

It was gathered that an offensive odour was noticed oozing out from a building that belongs to one Muhammad Adekunle and on receipt of the information, operatives from Moniya Divisional Police Headquarters swung into action and moved to the scene, where a dry well was seen at the compound of the house. 

On close observation, gory sights of what had the semblance of mutilated human bodies were spotted inside the well. 

Eventually, the remains of three unidentified bodies were removed to the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy. 

The suspect, Muhammad Adekunle confessed that sometime in January 2024 he, Lukman, Olobe and Ifa, all now at large conspired to kill people for money rituasl. 

He noted in the month of April 2024 he and others now at large lured one Adekola Sodiq aged 28yrs to the same scene at Moniya where they severed his head and legs which were sold to one Obaleye Sanmi ‘m’ and one Ismail Olalekan.”

He further confessed that on 7th August 2024, he and others now at large stabbed one Malik Kareem ‘m’ aged 17 years to death and severed his head and legs which were sold to one Rashidat Akanji ‘f’ at Oje Market for the sum of Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00).

Other paraded suspects who were arrested for various offences ranging from ritual killing, rape, defilement, robbery, murders and other criminal conspiracies, including a self-acclaimed cleric responsible for the sensational serial ritual murder at Moniya.

The suspects all confessed to the crime levelled against them and pleaded for leniency.

Parading the suspects, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Sokunbi said the command was glad to give an account of its stewardship as it was able to clamp down on some suspected criminals who have been tormenting the people of Oyo State for a while.

He noted that the command under his watch would not relent in its quest to make the state inhabitable for the sinister-minded ones who make criminal profits from crimes, especially ritual killings, robbery and other related vices

The police boss in Oyo State stated further that the command would continue to marshal on the merits of strategic community engagements and intelligence-led policing to improve crime management and control across the length and breadth of the state.

Mr Sonubi also appreciated all its security stakeholders inclusive of sister services, Civil Liberties Organizations, leaders of influence particularly within the trado-religious institutions, the media, the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, market leaders, artisans, student groups and indeed people of Oyo State for their maturity and co-operation during the just concluded Nationwide Protest from August 1st-10th, 2024.

He also commended the valiant and courageous officers and men of the command who demonstrated professionalism and dedication to their duties by statutorily upholding the protection of lives and property as required by the laws of the land during the period as well.
