Ondo State Government, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has launched the Build-A-Thon holiday camp program for secondary school students in the state.
The program, which was launched by the federal government in 14 states, was to build the capacity of students.
Declaring the program open, the Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Ayedatiwa, stated that the collaboration was to build the tech skills of the students to enable them to compete favorably in the digital world.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Olayide Adelami, he encouraged the students to consider themselves lucky to be part of the participants in the boot camps for the selected schools in Ondo State.
The governor said the program was part of the government’s commitment to offer unique learning experiences aimed at fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in secondary school students.
He said about one hundred and twenty students would be empowered with skills to become digital tech innovators and expose them to coding robotics, a skill development initiative that would equip them with e-learning skills.
Governor Ayedatiwa appreciated the federal government for choosing Ondo State to be part of the digital tech boot camp.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on ICT, Mr Tomide Akinribido, said Ondo State had the highest number of participants through the support of the governor to boost e-learning among secondary school students.
