As the Isese day is marked, Oyo state government has said it has reduced the discrepancies and inequalities confronting the people of indigenous faiths by giving them more recognition and appointments in the Civil Service and political cadres in the State.
The acting governor, Chief Bayo Lawal stated this at the grand finale of the Isese Day celebration held at Lekan Salami Stadium Adamasingba, Ibadan.
He said his administration would not relent in its efforts to protect the fundamental human rights and privileges of people of Indigenous faiths
The acting governor therefore enjoined leaders and members of traditional religious associations to continue with their good behaviour and harmonious relationship with others and support the government to always fish out the black sheep among them, presence of government officials”
The President of Isese in Oyo state Omikunmi Egbelade lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support and steadfast commitment to the cultural identity saying the declaration of 20th August is a testament to the governor’s respect for diverse religions in the state.
In a remark, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun called for harmony among the adherents of traditionalists and support for government towards the security of the state
Highlights of the ceremony are the award of participation presented to all zones and cultural display by the traditional worshippers.
Every 20th August is set aside by the adherents of the traditional religion of Yoruba descendants throughout the world as Isese Day and Special Celebration Day for general prayers and thanksgiving to “Olodunmare”
