The federal government says it will revamp all its ongoing water projects across the country in a bid to provide potable water for the citizens.

Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engineer Joseph Utsev stated this while inspecting water projects in Osun State as part of inspection of water projects across the South-West.

Speaking with newsmen at the Ilesa Dam site, Engineer Utsev said he was on a three-day inspection tour of water project sites across the southwest states of the country in a bid to boost water supply for Nigerians.

Engineer Utsev explained that the purpose of the dam was to supply water to the treatment plant for onward supply to the inhabitants of the area.

He explained that stakeholders would deliberate on the reports submitted and fashion out different options to arrive at environmentally friendly ways of making sure that adequate water is available for citizens.

Engineer Utsev said after the completion of his tour of various water and other project sites across the country, the federal government would devise a means to ensure Nigerians get value for money on all the projects under the ministry.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Water Resources in Osun State, Mr Sunday Oroniyi described the minister’s visit as a positive turnaround for both the Ilesa and Ile-Ife water projects.

The sites visited by the Minister include the Ilesa Water Dam in Kajola and the Ife Water Dam at Ogudu among several sanitation projects in the towns.
