The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has elevated 4 Obas and 2 Chiefs in the Balogun Chieftaincy line of Ibadanland.
The event which was held at the new Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State had in attendance members of the Olubadan-in-Council, including Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, family Heads otherwise known as Mogajis, traditional rulers and government functionaries among others.
The newly elevated Obas and Chiefs are Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who moved from Otun Balogun to Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Kolawole Adegbola, was promoted from Ashipa Balogun to Otun Balogun of Ibadanland and Oba John Isioye-Dada, climbed the ladder from Ekerin Balogun to Osi Balogun of Ibadanland.
Others are Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez, who moved from Ekarun Balogun to Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland; Senior Chief Akeem Adewoyin, who was promoted from Abese , Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; while the Senator representing Oyo South, Senior Chief Sharafadeen Alli, was moved from Maye Balogun to Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
Traditional Chieftaincy rites were performed by the Oluwo of Ibadanland, Chief Wahab Labosinde.
Our Correspondent reports that, the Promotion became necessary due to vacancies in the Balogun line as the New Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin got to the ascension from the Chieftaincy Line and also the demise of Oba Lateef Adebimpe who was the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland.
