The Senate Committee on Youth Development has reassured Governor Biodun Oyebanji of its commitment to the development of youth programmes and the repositioning of the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp in Ekiti State.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, made the pledge when he led some members on a courtesy visit to the governor’s office in Ado Ekiti after a fact-finding mission to the NYSC orientation Camp in Emure Ekiti.

Senator Adaramodu noted that the committee’s objective was to assess the condition of the camp and identify areas requiring urgent intervention to incorporate the cost for rehabilitation of the camp in the 2025 budget to be deliberated in the house when it resumed from recess.

He said the committee would donate 250 mattresses and chairs, while he would personally construct a new hall as a constituency project and install solar-powered street lights to improve security within the camp.

Reacting, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who expressed gratitude for the committee’s visit, called on the Senate to assist in the provision of jobs and empowerment opportunities for youths in the state.

Governor Oyebanji stated that his administration had already carried out repair works on some facilities in the camp and appealed to the Senate Committee to develop policies aimed at creating jobs and fostering skill acquisition among Nigerian youths.
