Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Oyo State Command has paraded five suspected illegal miners with 2 trucks of suspected Lithium Powder in the State.
NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Mr. Augustine Padonu made this known while parading the Suspects at the Area A Office of the Corps at Iyaganku Quarters, Ibadan.
He said that the Five suspects who were Drivers and their “Motor Boys” were intercepted by the vigilant Monitoring Team of the Command at Toll-Gate, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, following intelligent information.
The Paraded Suspects are Abdullah Ayinde from Kwara State, AbdulRahman Ayinde from Oyo State, Femi Akanni also from Oyo State and AbdulAkeem Fasasi from Osun State while the fifth Suspect, Wasiu Amuda was said to be indisposed and receiving medical attention in a hospital.
Mr Padonu said that the Mineral Resources were loaded from Ilenla, Kishi, Oyo State and were destined for sale at Ogere in Ogun State, noting that the suspects have been operating from an illegal mining site without operation licence, royalties, purchase and process licence as well as haulage receipt.
According to Mr Padonu, the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
He, however, reiterated the commitment of the Command to ridding Oyo State of criminal elements, calling on the Public to continue providing NSCDC and other security agencies with information that would aid their efforts in maintaining law and order across the State.
Mr Padonu, therefore, gave assurance that NSCDC would continue to work tirelessly to protect the nation’s solid mineral resources and ensure that all mining activities are Carried out within the confines of the law.
