Political leaders have been urged to use their offices to lift Nigerians out of poverty and sufferings in the country.
The Presiding Pastor, Fountain of Peace Baptist church, Oyo, Reverend John Oyelade made the call during funeral proceedings for Oyo State Chairman, All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Isaac Omodewu at the First Baptist church, Otu
Delivering a sermon entitled “When Death Occurs”, Reverend Oyelade enjoined politicians to safe the masses from hunger and hardship, reiterating that death of Chief Omodewu was a reminder for all to strive to do good.
“Hon. Omodewu is no longer in pain or sorrow, I enjoin the family, relatives and associates to rejoice for a life well spent”, he advised.
The cleric emphasized that death is a reminder that life is short and day of reckoning, it provides opportunity for repentance, and kingdom of heaven, hence the necessity to bequeath memorable legacy.
The APC national chairman, Dr Abdullai Ganduje, represented by the party’s national vice chairman, South, Chief Isaac Kekemeke described the demise of Chief Omodewu as a great loss of a supportive partyman.
Senator representating Oyo North Senatorial District, Dr Abdulfatah Buhari described Chief Omodewu as a hardworking party leader with unprecedented electoral fortunes for the party.
Administrator of an orphanage in Kajola, Mrs Peju Oniosun in an emotion laden voice recalled scholarship awards to indigent orphans, praying God for the repose of the deceased soul and fortitude for the family to bear the loss of their patriarch.
The well attended event had in attendance Oyo state APC working Committee, Senators Abdulfatah Buhari, Sarafadeen Alli and Yunus Akintunde, members representing Ido/Ibarapa East federal constituency, Mr. Remi Oseni and his Atisbo, Saki West and Saki East federal constituency, Mr Tajudeen Abisodun, two former deputy governors of Oyo state, Chief Moses Adeyemo and Chief Rauf Olaniyan, sons and daughters of Otu and Oke-ogun areas.
