FG Fulfills Pledge, Donates ₦30 Million to Taiwo Akinkunmi’s Family

The Federal Government of Nigeria has fulfilled its promise by donating 30 million naira to the family of Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the renowned designer of the National Flag.

The gesture underscores President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to honouring Pa Akinkunmi’s legacy and his contributions to national unity.

Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, presented the cheque to the family at their residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mallam Issa-Onilu emphasized the government’s dedication to recognizing Pa Akinkunmi’s patriotism and the lasting impact of his work.

Describing the late designer as a legend, he noted that Pa Akinkunmi used his talent in his youth to create a national symbol that endures to this day.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the family, Mr. Akinwunmi Akinkunmi, one of Pa Akinkunmi’s children, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for keeping his promise.

He acknowledged the financial support as a significant gesture that the family would not forget.

Mr. Akinkunmi also urged the federal government to immortalize his father in recognition of his contributions to the nation.

Earlier, the NOA Director-General visited Pa Akinkunmi’s tomb to pay respects and extend condolences to the family.
