The National Executive Council, NEC, has called on the federal government to convene an inclusive stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the pressing issues confronting Nigeria and chart a path forward to address the current unrest, hunger, poverty, and inflation in line with government policies.

In a Communique signed by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero after an emergency NEC meeting on security agents’ invasion of the Headquarters of the Labour House in Abuja on Wednesday.

The National Executive Council of NLC resolved that the government should engage in meaningful dialogue with all stakeholders to find lasting solutions to the nation’s economic hardship.

‘’To this end, NEC-in-session sets up necessary machinery to conduct a forensic audit of the national Headquarters to ascertain its safety and continued suitability for Workers’’ The Communique reads.

The NEC-in-session condemns the killing of innocent protesters expressing their grievances against the harsh policies of the government. 

”Call for the immediate release of detainees and trade unionists arrested either in their homes or relaxation joints. This is the only way Government can show good faith and begin the nation’s healing’’ The Communique reads.

The Nigeria Labour Congress re-affirms its commitment to defending the rights and welfare of Nigerian workers and ensuring their safety and well-being.

The Security Agents had invaded the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Abuja on Wednesday night, and ransacked its bookshop, carting away hundreds of books and other publications.
