Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, officially initiated the construction of the Seventy -kilometer Abeokuta-Ifo-Ota-Lagos Highway on Friday, pledging that the project will be completed within eighteen months.
During the flag-off ceremony held at Itori in the Ewekoro Local Government Area, Governor Abiodun emphasized the road’s importance not only to Ogun State but also to Lagos State and the entire nation.

The governor assured residents that the project would be delivered on schedule, underscoring his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure across the state.
Governor Abiodun who thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the minister for Works and Infrastructure Engineer Dave Umahi for releasing the road to the state for reconstruction noted that the road that cut across four local governments including Abeokuta North, Ewekoro, Ifo and Ado-odo Ota had been in deplorable condition for many years which according to him had hampered development along the axis.

While assuring that the reconstruction of Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos road would serve as one of the legacy projects of the current administration, governor Abiodun stated that Akute-Dehinro-Ishasi road in Ado-odo ota local governments already completed will soon be commissioned

Prince Dapo Abiodun however called on the residents of the area to take the ownership of the road by supporting the contractor for its timely completion urged the stakeholders to partner the government for the provision of more infrastructure in the state

In a welcome address, the Commissioner for Works and infrastructure, engineer ade Akinsanya represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engineer Lateef Yusuf said the reconstruction of the road would bring succour to the motorists using the road and also bring further development to the area.
