Ogun Law Makers Call For Security Summit To End Killings

Lawmakers at the Ogun State House of Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution calling on the  State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to as a matter of urgency convey a security and peace summit to curb the incessant killings of innocent residents in border towns.

The passage of the resolution during plenary at the Assembly complex, Abeokuta followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Mr Yusuf Sheriff, and seconded  by Mrs Bolanle Ajayi.

The resolution advised  that the summit comprising all security formations and  other stakeholders  in the border areas to find a lasting solution to the extra-judicial killings being carried out by some security operatives, especially the officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The lawmakers  explained that it was worrisome to note that the customs men often seized farm produce like maize and tomatoes in the guise of arresting contraband goods.

Earlier, a member representing Egbado North II State Constituency,Mr Adegoke Adeyanju, had informed the house of  alleged unprofessional activities of the men of customs in some parts of his constituency.
