Nigeria will face Tunisia in one of the Round of 16 matches at the on going African Nations Cup in Cameroun.

The fixture was revealed after the conclusion of the group stage of the competition.

To reach this stage, the Super Eagles topped group D with 9 maximum points while Tunisia came third in group F with 3 points.

The Nigeria/Tunisia match will take place in the city of Garoua by 8pm on Sunday, the 23rd of this month.

In some of the other Round of 16 fixtures, hosts Cameroun will face Comoro Islands; Cote D’Ivoire will take on Egypt; Senegal will confront Cape-Verde while Morocco will keep a date with Malawi.

If Nigeria beats Tunisia on Sunday, the Eagles will take on winner between Burkina Faso and Gabon in the quarter finals.

Meanwhile, Friday and Saturday are rest of the days at the competition.

Super Eagles of Nigeria will be hoping to make it back to back wins at the ongoing Africa cup of Nations, AFCON in Cameroon when they face Sudan in their second group B match.

The Super Eagles, who had an impressive victory against the Pharaohs of Egypt in their opening match, are in high spirit ahead of today’s kick off at five o’clock in the evening.

Despite an head to head advantage, Super Eagles Interim Coach, Augustine Eguavoen has said his team would not underrate the Sudanese side.

In the other game of the day, Egypt would hope to bounce back from their defeat to Nigeria when they tackle Guinea Bissau at eight o’clock tonight.

In matches played yesterday, Senegal and Guinea played a goalless draw, Morocco beat Comoros by 2 goals to nil, Malawi came from behind to beat Zimbabwe 2-1, while Gabon scored a late equaliser to salvage a point against Ghana.

Three-time African champions Nigeria will face Egypt in their first Group D game of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles will be hoping to surpass their 3rd placed position in the 2019 Afcon as they seek to get maximum points against seven time winners, Egypt.

Meanwhile, Egypt head coach, Carlos Queiroz says he is looking forward to the clash, claiming that the Super Eagles are one of the strongest team in the tournament.

Today’s first match will see defending champion, Algeria face Sierra Leone.

In Group B matches played yesterday, Senegal defeated Zimbabwe one nil, while Guinea edge past Malawi by a lone goal.

In Group C, Morocco scored in the 84th minute to beat Ghana as Comoros first ever Afcon appearance ended in defeat to Gabon.

Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that striker, Odion Ighalo will miss the 2021 Africa cup of Nations, Afcon tournament in Cameroon.

In a statement released by the football ruling body, the former Manchester United striker will play no part at the 33rd edition of the African football showpiece.

With Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Genk’s Paul Onuachu already ruled out of the competition, Ighalo, who was the Afcon top scorer in 2019, was expected to lead the Super Eagles charge for goals.
It was, however, gathered that Ighalo was not released by his Saudi Arabia club Al Shabab owing to contractual reasons.

Following the directive of the Confederation of African Football, CAF that all African Nations cup qualifying matches billed for this month should be played behind closed door, members of Football Fans Club of Nigeria, FFCN have gone spiritual to rally round the Super Eagles to defeat Leone Stars of Sierra Leone tomorrow.

President of the Supporter’s Club, Ambassador Oluwakemi Ogunfuwa made this known while speaking with newsmen in Lagos.

According to the football administrator, the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the presence of football loving people at various stadia worldwide.

She therefore assured the spiritual presence of her members at the stadium from the Secretariat in Lagos where good numbers of fans would be watching the game live and the Super Eagles will come clean against their rivals.

The match is slated for the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City, Edo state
