Ogun State Government has renewed its determination to support initiatives and programmes towards the development of youths through Sports.

Commissioner for Sports Development, Mr Wasiu Isiaka stated this during the kick off of Egba Youth Football Championship at the Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta.

Mr Isiaka, who noted that government could not shoulder the responsibilities in the development of sports alone, reaffirmed the present administration’s readiness to continue to encourage stakeholders to key into various government’s programmes in repositioning sports especially football.

Mr Isiaka announced that plans were underway to change the face of Muda Lawal Stadium Asero Abeokuta and commended the organisers of Egba Youth Football Championship for their consistency 

In the opening games of the competition, Oluwole Senior defeated Mighty Stars by a lone goal, Debash From Ijebu ode were also one nil better over Ajegunle All Stars, Toyin Amuzu football team beat United FC by three goals to one while Gbench Achievers defeated AR United by two goals to nothing.

The Family of the late football star, Muda Lawal wants the federal and Ogun State governments to complete a building project embarked upon by the late footballer before his demise 30 years ago as part of efforts to immortalize the soccer icon. 

They made the appeal when receiving a posthumous award presented to Muda Lawal by the Nigeria Football Supporters Club during a remembrance programme held at the Abeokuta burial site of the football ambassador.
