Fifty tricycles have been distributed to some youths under Pacesetter Keke Scheme of Oyo state government.

The scheme which is a partnership between the state government and a private company provides for part payment for the tricycles within the period of fifty-six weeks.

At the inauguration of the tricycles in Ibadan, Governor Seyi Makinde Said the gesture was to reduce motorcycle accidents on the roads.

Represented by Permanent Secretary, Service Matters, Mrs. Adejoke Eyitayo, Governor Makinde said the step was also aimed at alleviating poverty in the state.

In a welcome address, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs ,Community Development, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Christianah Abioye urged the beneficiaries not to default in payment for the tricycles in order not to put unnecessary burdens on their guarantors.

Some of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the state government, promising to redeem the pledge of the repayment for the tricycles.

They urged the government to continue with the scheme, as it would address unemployment in the state.
