Oyo State Government says henceforth, pensioners would not be charged percentage for the processing of their gratuities.

The state’s Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to executive members of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State branch.

Mr. Olaleye, who decried the hardships retirees went through to make ends meet after service stressed the determination of the present administration to ensure that life after retirement was conducive.

Mr. Olaleye said that payment of gratuities would be done in batches, and appealed to those yet to get their gratuities to remain calm.

Speaking on behalf of the Pensioners, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State Mr. Olusegun Abatan said the union was ready to partner the  Ministry of Establishment and Training to train workers on methods to guide against dabbling into unproductive businesses six months before their retirement.

Mr. Abatan also urged the present administration to always accord priority to the needs of retirees.
