Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has described the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the platform he won the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the state, at the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, as the triumph of truth over falsehood.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa says the party did not expect anything else, as truth is constant.
Governor Makinde appreciated the people of the state for standing by him before, during and after the election.
The governor called on the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), to forget politics for now and join hands with him to work for the good of Oyo State.
Also, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP over the victory at the election tribunal.
Ogundoyin in a statement on Monday in Ibadan, described the judgement by the election tribunal as a confirmation of the people’s choice of Makinde and PDP, which was demonstrated through massive votes for the party during the March 9 gubernatorial election in the state.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Sirajo Muhammed on behalf of the three-member panel, the tribunal averred that the petitioners, Chief Bayo Adelabu and the All Progressives Congress(APC) failed to prove the allegation of corrupt pratices, overvoting, improper accreditation, inaccurate ballot counting and non-compliance with the 2010 electoral act as amended.
Mr. Ogundoyin said, “our people are happy today because the mandate giving to Governor Makinde and all other Oyo PDP candidates in Senate, House of Representatives and State assembly were freely given out of trust in our ability to liberate Oyo State and restore its fading pace setting glory.
“I believe we can now concentrate our governmental and legislative duties with less distraction, to ensure the good people of Oyo State reap the good fruits they deserve.”
