The Federal Government in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, is to provide necessary financial and logistic supports to help National Cooperatives for Commercial and Industrial Agriculture, NACCIA, achieve its mandate of helping Nigerians to engage in large scale agriculture.

Oyo State Coordinator of NACCIA, Mr. Ademola Olarinde made this known in Ibadan at the launch of an agricultural initiative program for youths and farmers in Oyo state held at Mapo hall.

Mr Olarinde said with the support, all arrangements have been concluded to commence engagement of at least 20,000 farmers with one hectare of land each for lease and minimum of three hundred thousand naira loan for the purpose of commercial and industrial farming.

Earlier in an address, the South-West Regional Coordinator, Rev. Abraham Akintunde stated that NACCIA has entered into agreement with several multinational companies both in Africa and Europe to buy off farm produce from the farmers, to be delivered to the companies in need.

Some of the participants expressed their joy on the initiative, adding that the program will help both state and federal governments attain food security and generate employment which are part of the global agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, SDG’s.
